San Diego Through the lens
Aidan Maginn Artist Statement.
For my self portrait I chose to have a frame where its from my stomach to 4 inches above my head which is 30 inches. I chose half my body because it looks better than full body or face because it’s not super far away from you but not super close either. I didn't have any props. I didn't have props because I didn't think the pinhole would make the prop clear and I wanted to have the picture only have me in it. My pose is a funny face because I love doing faces and I am outgoing a lot of the time.
My tripod had to go up 50 inches because my frame was 30 inches and my I’m 65 inches so I did my body height 65 inches minus half of my frame 15 in and that got me 50 inches. I divided 50 by by 24 which is the height of my camera then I got 2.1 then I multiplied 2.1 by 10 and got 21 this means I’ll be standing 21 inches away from my camera. The sides AB and ED are proportional and the angle between them is the same.

I learned how to make a pinhole camera out of a matchbox and a pringles can. I learned how long I need to have the shutter open for my camera and I learned how to do the math to find out how to put the camera depending on your frame. I liked making the cameras because it was fun to do. I would have changed the way I took my picture because it was very plain.
