EXTERNSHIP
Week 1:
Prompt #1: Describe your project or internship. What are you exited about? What are you nervous about?
For my externship, Carlos, Andres and I are making murals for the bathrooms in the school to beautify it and make it less plain. We are making one for the upstairs boys the downstairs girls and ASB will do the final mural that will go up in the upstairs girls. I am exited for the fact that I get to spend my whole externship just painting and drawing which should be really fun. I am nervous that my partners and I will not do a good job and the murals won't look very good.
Prompt #2: Describe a new skill or new knowledge that you acquired this week while in externship.
I learned how to make murals. I never knew how much work it would be to just come up with an idea for a mural, but when we finally decided on something and started sketching it out, I could feel that these murals would turn out look good.

Week 2:
What are some challenges that you have encountered and what are the steps you have taken to address and overcome those challenges? How have your mentor and your co-workers supported you in your growth in skills and knowledge?
A challenge that my partners and I have faced is staying on task and doing our work. We usually would do work up until lunch then after lunch we would watch movies or play games and not really be working. Or it would be the other way around, we would screw around before lunch then rush to get stuff done by the end of the day. A way we overcame these challenges was Joanne gave us a deadline and if we didn't reach it than she wouldn't Carlos work so he wouldn't have to go to summer school and that really made us feel bad because it would be our fault for Carlos having to go to summer school and so we busted our butts to finish on time. A way my mentors and co-workers helped me grow was they would give me advice and help me on almost everything so I would know what to do if they weren't there for a day and I could do it on my own if I ever wanted do it without them.

Week 3:
Prompt 1: Describe how a specific skill you acquired in high school was valuable in your externship. How did you learn that skill? How were you able to use it? Or perhaps was there is a skill you needed but didn't have. How did you deal with that?
A skill I needed was the ability to paint well which I didn't have, but throught the extership and learning from my mistakes I got a little better and started making less mistakes. The way I dealt with it was just learning as I went along and using the way I did something lets say the other day and changing it up a bit so I wouldn't make the same mistake and make the final project turn out better.
Prompt 2: How has your externship been similar to AND different from projects you've done in high school?
My project was making murals so obviously it was a lot of painting which is mainly what we learned and practiced in art. It was completely different from every other project I did her because no other project I've done involved painting or this amount of effort and dedication.

Week 4:
Prompt #1:How has this experience (the externship) made you consider your college or career path? In other words: Is your experience something you would like to continue exploring or has this experience turned you off from pursuing this field of study or career path..?
My externship didn't make me think about another career path because although I like art and painting I would never want to go into art for a career because I don't see myself doing it full time or as a job. I would like to continue painting and art as a hobby though.
Prompt #2: Mind Map

week 5:
Prompt 1: List and describe at least 3 people or experiences that you are grateful for over the past 4 weeks. Why was this meaningful for you?
Three people I am grateful for are my two partners Carlos and Andres and Jeremy because first off because Jeremy is how I got this externship and was a really good mentor, and Carlos and Andres helped make this a fun extership and we actually completed the murals we had to do.
Prompt 2: Write a thank you note of some sort to someone who helped you over the past 4 weeks, and send it to them.
I want to thank Jeremy because he although our group didn't always do our work if we needed anything he was there and if he saw our work he would always say good job and he would give us some advice on how to tweak it a little to make it look better.
